The Peñón de Guatapé, a 220-meter-high monolith in Guatapé, Antioquia, Colombia, is a tourist attraction. Composed of quartz, feldspar and mica, it was climbed for the first time in 1954. Access to the summit is via 715 steps. The stone, private property of the Villegas family, was painted with "GUATAPÉ", but Law 23 of 1973 prohibited the marking of natural tourist sites.
